Folk music and children’s laughter filled the halls of the Children's Theatre in Subotica.

On the afternoon of 16 November 2024, the 12th Vojvodina Children and Youth Solo Folk Dance Competition was held by the Talentum Talent Development Arts Association, drawing a record number of contestants this year.

The audience enjoyed no fewer than 62 performances presented by 105 young dancers, with musical accompaniment provided by the Duhaj Band from Subotica.

The soloists, spanning various age groups, arrived from numerous towns across Vojvodina, including Palić, Senta, Hajdukovo, Novi Sad, Bečej, Mali Iđoš, and Feketić. Naturally, the host Talentum Association was also well represented. Continuing the tradition of recent years, contestants also travelled from Hungary, with participants from Szeged, Deszk, Hódmezővásárhely, and Szarvas.

The jury faced a difficult task. Its members included folk dance educator Szilveszter Sikentáncz, award-winning folk dancers and instructors Lili Fundák Kaszai and Kristóf Fundák, and folk-dance educator Zsolt Szarka.

Depending on their age group, the dancers competed across multiple categories to showcase their skills and proficiency. Every participating child and youth received an official assessment, taking home either a gold, silver, or bronze classification award.
