On International Women's Day and St Zoltán's Day, a special craft programme took place in Deszk at the Saint Sava Centre, organised as part of the FolkReAct (HUSRB/23R/22/065) project. Beautiful vessels were created, along with many enthusiastic potter masters!

The participants—including representatives from cultural heritage associations from both Serbia and Hungary—learned about the traditional techniques for making baking and cooking pots common in Serbian culture. Using the coiling method of manual clay manipulation, everyone was able to craft their own baking and cooking dishes.

Attendees also tried their hand at using the potter's wheel, shaping pot walls and cooking vessels. In the next stage, they rolled out the bases of the pots and meticulously joined them to the side walls. Once the basic structures were complete, the handles were attached to the vessels by hand, a phase during which they also learned to use a handle extruder.

To conclude the programme, participants were free to create and decorate their own workpieces using the newly acquired techniques. Beyond the sharing of craft skills, the event offered a deep insight into the world of Serbian pottery traditions.

Strengthening the importance of cultural ties and shared community experiences, project partners also arrived from the Talentum Association in Serbia. The programme functioned as an instructor training session; these instructors will apply the knowledge rooted in the past during upcoming summer and autumn dance camps and craft camps.
