This is how the children of Desk prepared for the holidays at Whitsun/Pentecost.

At the beginning of the session, participants discussed the customs of Whitsun carolling (pünkösdölés) and erecting Maypoles, as according to folk tradition, it was customary to raise a Maypole not only on the first of May but also at Whitsun/Pentecost.

As a continuation, they crafted glove puppets. Whitsun King and Whitsun Princess puppets were made: first, they stuffed the heads, then everyone chose their preferred lower body part, securing the head to the body by sewing.

The puppets' hair was wound onto cardboard templates before being glued to the head. This was followed by gluing on the crowns, which were woven from straw. The girls were also free to decorate their puppets with veils. The eyes were made from colourful buttons, and the mouths were drawn on. Colourful, cheerful Whitsun Kings and Princesses were born.

Once all the puppets were completed, they tasted the traditional potato flatbreads (krumplilepény), seasoned with onions and sour cream.

Finally, they decorated the Maypole with flowers and ribbons.
