The theme of the third Bánát Association training craft workshop focused on making traditional Serbian cooking pots.

The participants, who had already gained experience in the previous two sessions, arrived with great enthusiasm for this workshop, which promised a unique craft experience.

The special feature of the traditional Serbian cooking pot is that it can be used over an open fire as well as in conventional modern kitchen ovens. Both the decoration method and the clay itself differed from previous sessions. This time, participants worked with a finer, porcelain-like clay that turns a light colour after firing.

Mastering the art of slip trailing (írókázás) was another new technique introduced.

First, they crafted the lids for the cooking vessels. This task required immense precision, as the lid must fit the pot perfectly.

While the lids were drying, everyone shaped their pot on the wheel. The vessels needed some time to dry slightly so that the decorative motifs could be applied to the surface more easily. Following this, the pot handles were made using a handle extruder. The handles were attached to the leather-hard pots, and then the slip decoration process could begin using a slip trailer (íróka).

Once again, the creative process concluded with crafting freely chosen items. Beautiful, functional objects were born under their hands, as all participants were by now well-versed in clay manipulation techniques. After finishing the cheerful creative work, participants were able to take home their fully fired creations from the previous session.
