The creation of the Banat headdresses, known as the 'kapica', demanded exceptional textile craftsmanship. Material selection was dictated by function: cotton and linen were utilised for durable, everyday items, silk for representative festive attire, and rich velvet for more structured or winter pieces. The surface ornamentation is defined by the distinctive Banat embossed gold embroidery. During the process, pattern elements pre-drawn and cut from cardboard were applied to the base fabric using traditional starch paste. Metallic thread was then stretched over this raised surface and secured with a thin, hidden thread, pulled towards the centre of the motif during stitching to create a striking 3D effect. 

The compositions were further enhanced with beads, shimmering sequins, and silk embroidery. This precise, time-honoured artisanal technology lives on today through reconstructed folk costumes and contemporary applied arts.
